SARDINIA

 

For those arriving from the sky Sardinia appears  like a colorful stretch in the sea .

It is an island with all the varieties a whole continent would offer, the fascinating coastal landscapes and the  rugged rocky inland, looking  almost like an undiscovered country.

Arts, habits, traditions have survived through the millennia and they are still evident in festival, recipes, precious  traditional costumes embroidered with  gold and watermark, historical carnival masks, living memory of ancient pagan rites, and still significant in the Sardinian culture.

Sardinia is a region for all season.

With its hidden coves and prehistoric monuments scattered in silent landscapes, this is the island for the ideal escape and adventure.

The region of Gallura on the north eastern coast has been defined the Mediterranean Polynesia, for the beauty of its beaches of fine sand, gulfs, and small bays.

 Porto Cervo  is the heart of the magnificent  Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda),the most prestigious and exclusive location in the island by far.

 There are so many small villages and  luxurious resorts where you can still feel the beauty of the see and warmth of this welcoming and yet unspoiled region.

 

Santa Teresa di Gallura is a pretty and tidy village in close proximity to Capo Testa , a unique rocky buttress the wind has modeled through millennia to create smooth rocks of the most fascinating shapes and sheltered bays of astonishing charm. The town had been known for decades as one of the most lively summer location, ideal for young people and families.

Castelsardo is set in center of The Asinara Gulf, with its medieval center and a perfectly preserved Castle overlooking the town and the sea.

Porto Torres  is famous for its impressive roman ruins of the ancient city Turris Lybisonis, the splendid  Island of Asinara which is a National Park and it has one of the major ports in Italy, connecting the Island to the Italian peninsula, Spain, France and Corsica.

Stintino, a town of fishermen on the north western coast,  boasts one of the most wonderful beaches in the Mediterranean , “La Pelosa”.

Only a few miles from the airport of Fertilia, you can find Alghero, a lively city that still keeps alive its Catalan identity . With its animated old town, the promenade, the bastions and the attractive coastline this place is one of the most appreciated tourist destination in Sardinia.

 

Cagliari, set in the center of a gulf  on the southern coast, is the capital of the Region. The historical center of white buildings,  the visible signs of its Phoenician origins, its distinctive neighborhoods, the fine and traditional cuisine, the fine shops, make this city very unique.

Over the years more visitors are discovering the beauty of this side of the Island and its charming towns such as Villasimius, Chia, Pula, Nora.
